Flea Market Adventures

On our last Sunday of the trip, a large group of us decided to embark on an adventure across town to explore the Mauerpark Flea Market. The market pops up every Sunday and offers an array for entertainment, from shopping to food to karaoke. Many of us purchased gifts for our families here because small, local businesses set up shop here and allowed us to see a more local aspect of the Berlin culture.

When entering the market grounds, a multitude of food options offered themselves us (I quickly regretted eating lunch before I arrived.) A common food choice in Berlin is currywurst, so naturally a stand was perched in the entrance area and was not empty.

Sellers of all cultures laid out their newest work on tables.

Out in the more open part of the Mauerpark, tents were unseen and more music and dancing displays took place. Above is a couple gazing and smiling at a dancing group performing.

There was even a basketball court, crowded around by onlookers.

The flea market seemed to be a good appeal for all styles and ages. Children were there with their families, couples were there on dates, and it was also a good place for friends to casually walk around and have a beer. The atmosphere was appropriate for all ages, and the array of amenities allowed market-goes to find their own niche in the marketplace.
